This is extra help what the work has to be.
I had a student ask for further explanation of the headings for the week two assignment so I wanted to share with you in case you had questions. Understanding the meaning of each heading is important because this chart/grid is used for weeks 2-5 and is worth 10 points, a total of 40 points which can have an impact on your overall grade.
Heading 1-Treatment modalities- what is the treatment for the disease. For example if you selected depression, how would it be treated? The core components of the treatment must be stated- I is understood that each treatment plan is individualized to the patient.
Heading 2-The cultural or practice belief refers to how the disease can have an impact on the treatment. For example, if the family of a particular cultural does not believe in getting treatment for a person diagnosed with a mental health disorder. This includes a cultural’s belief system or family custom. Information can usually be found in websites such as the National Institute of Health, Healthy People 2020, CDC, and WHO.
Heading 3- The epidemiological statistics refers to what data is available related to the disease. Epidemiology is the study of the frequency, distribution, and determinants of the disease in the human population. The information is used to plan and evaluate strategies to prevent illnesses. The information can also be used to a group where the disease has already been developed such as influenza. (BJM, nd). A good resource for this Information for this column can be found on the website of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (http://www.ahrq.gov).
I believe the other columns are self-explanatory. Also see the example provided in the assignment section where the instruction and worksheet are located.
