The group may select a company and a model. The project is divided into three parts, and should include: A technical description of the product and its technology. A description of the history of technology of the product. A description of defined environmental aspects (i.e. material source, production and lifetime) and impacts related to the product in a life-cycle perspective (i.e. recycling and material recovery). Description: What are the main components of the telephone, how does it work?
Describe the electronics (i.e. semi-conductors), the operative system, communication standards, frequency ranges etc. Other features like GPS, gyroscope, technology for touch screens, camera, etc. can be included, but remember to stay in the world of engineering, not marketing. History of technology: (This is what I need help with) Describe the technological development of mobile telephones/smart telephones from the selected company. Focus on milestones in the production (hardware and software), production methods and marketing where the company has been in the front.
Environment: The environmental part should include the four main points: 1. Give an overview of important chemical compounds of the telephone, and environmental impacts related to each of them. You may exclude compounds used in marginal amounts with minor impacts. 2. Discuss the production and use of telephones in view of environmental sustainability. 3. Discuss challenges and possibilities at the end of lifetime when the telephone should be disposed of. 4. If possible, include environmental impacts as revealed by the manufacturer, and measures taken to reduce them. IMPORTAND: need to include all sources used and focus on writing the report around the main question: How does Huawei accommodate their new flagship phone (mate 20 pro) to last longer?
