This is an individual assignment. You are required to write a 2000 word research report based on the recent Australian Royal Commission into the misconduct in the banking, superannuation and financial services industry.
There are three assignment questions. All three questions must be answered in your report. The article by John Kehoe et al (2018) below has been adopted for the questions of this assignment. This research task broadly aligns to Topics 1 and 2; however, detailed research is required by students to gain specific insight into the Royal Commission and the interim findings. You must refer to the Royal Commission’s Interim report (dated 28 September 2018) to respond to the questions of this assignment. The websites to access Volume 1 and Volume 2 of the Royal Commission’s Interim report are provided below. Also provided below is the website to access the ASX Corporate Council Corporate Governance principles and recommendations, which relates to this assessment’s second question. In addition to the Interim report and the ASX corporate governance principles, a minimum of eight (8) different references must be used and cited (including related newspaper and media articles) to apply and justify ethical principles in response to the following assignment questions. Article: The article (below) appeared in the Australian Financial Review (1 October 2018) after the release of the Royal Commission’s interim report on Friday 28 September 2018: “The royal commission’s interim report on Friday lashed the banks, insurers, wealth managers, financial planners, mortgage brokers and superannuation providers for a culture of greed that it concluded was the result of remuneration misincentives and a failure to follow and enforce rules” (p.1).
