Redemptive Technology

Redemptive Technology

Paper details Research or choose a technological solution or an existing technology or practice that relates to a Canadian environmental issue (small or large in scope) and analyze it incorporating Ursula Franklin’s set of criteria or checklist for judging whether a technology is redemptive. The Set of Criteria : 1) promote justice? 2) restore reciprocity? 3) confer divisible or indivisible benefits? 4) favour people over machines? 5) maximize gain or minimize disaster? 6) favour conservation over waste? 7) favour the reversible over the irreversible? Use your analysis of the redemptive nature of what you have researched to incorporate it into some aspect(s) of the GPI measure, demonstrating how these two tools combine into a powerful ecological decision-making framework. If, after analyzing your technology, you find that it is not redemptive or does not increase overall genuine progress, that’s ok! Your negative conclusions are just as useful as positive outcomes but try to develop some idea of how the technology might be rendered redemptive or make the case that the technology should not be adopted at all. GPI (genuine progress indicator) related info : https://www.investopedia.com/terms/g/gpi.asp The paper should have the following outline 1- Backgrounder 2- A brief description of the technology or practice 3- Our analysis of the ecological characteristics and application of the technology, VERY IMP : please use in text citation incorporating the two decision-making tools if any inquiries please reach out to me
