Company Background FC Wichita’s Academy is overseen and operated by senior club directors. The management team is dedicated to bettering the entire Wichita soccer community. In 2015, US Soccer announced an adjustment to all youth age divisions. The new format requires players to register no younger than their true birth year. Because this change shook up current rosters around the country, FC Wichita believed it was the obvious time to introduce Wichita’s first youth soccer academy. With the Academy being launched in the fall of 2016, local clubs have come together to fly under one Wichita flag. This historic decision allows top local players U13-U18 to be educated and trained under academy standards with access to all FC Wichita senior club resources. In return, FC Wichita also intends to support all local premier teams to benefit the aspiring academy player. Players who are accepted into the Academy will experience an elevated training atmosphere. FC Wichita’s commitment to improve the everyday environment for the elite youth player shines through the use of senior team players and coaches in academy sessions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure completion of all registration and player paperwork for the Academy, including but not limited to Coaches, Development Academy players and NPL, and foreign athlete immigration.

• Assist with travel logistics as it pertains to moving equipment to and from the airport, hotels and stadiums.

• Assist Equipment Manager in necessary and timely preparation for all games and practices.

• Coordinate weekly staffing assignments with Director of Operations and Academy Director.

• Coordinate meals and nutritional needs for all trips with ADT staff.

• Accurately update Academy calendar as needed.

• Assist the Director of Talent Identification in managing the Academy’s scouting database.

• Assist in coordinating logistics and communication for and between the Scouting Department and part-time scouts, trialists, and recruits.

• Assist the Director of Talent Identification in coordinating recruit visits with all internal stakeholders

• Support the development of collateral for new scouting procedures, guidelines, and strategies.

• Liaise with partner clubs and organizations to help extend the breadth of FC Wichita Academy’s scouting platform.

Requirements

• Current student working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree with an emphasizing a related field, ability to earn university credit is required

• Interest and experience in competitive sports environment, soccer preferred

• Previous experience in event management is preferred

• Strong work-ethic and proactive attitude are essential, ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment,

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) • Ability to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends)

1. The first item in your intern journal is a general explanation of any projects/tasks you have been assigned. This part asks the questions: “What Did You Do?” and “What Did You Learn?” Essentially, you should recall exactly what you did for that specific project/task and any new things you learned as a result of completing the assignment.

2. You should also include a “soul-searching” bit. Here, you should note how that particular task/project made you feel, whether or not you actually enjoyed what you did, and if you can see yourself doing that specific type of assignment for the rest of your life. I think this is especially important because it really allows you to reflect on your experiences and possibly learn more about your passions and interests as far as work and career-life goes.

3. Include dates the projects, tasks or assignments were completed. This might not seem as important; but could be extremely helpful if you’re wanting to spruce up your resume, add any additional information to your LinkedIn account, are preparing for interviews, etc. Also, by keeping track of dates, it will be easier to gauge whether or not you were granted more responsibilities as your internship progressed.

4. Make note of the general category of the project or task. This would just be 1-2 words explaining the general focus of the task. For example, you could list “Merchandising,” “Accounting,” “Recruiting,” “Compensation,” “Finance,” “General Clerical/Administrative,” “Networking,” etc. This is helpful if you were assigned many projects/tasks throughout your internship and you want to keep track of where you spent most of your time.

5. Finally, include the skills and tools you used to complete the tasks. For example, you may have used Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Photoshop, the Internet. Or you may have used researching skills, problem-solving skills, teamwork and collaboration… Keeping track of the skills and tools you utilized will also help to spruce up your resume when the time comes to apply for more jobs/internships.
